The School's Self-Assessment Cycle
Kaleide is a learning community where improvement is based on an iterative design. We aim to use all sources of information available to us (children's reflections and assessments, parents' feedback, facilitators' observations...) in order to refine our practices and incorporate valuable understandings and perspectives.
As facilitator, you will need to keep track of every project and workshops carried out at the school. In terms of curriculum content, we implement a weekly review (which includes your observations and documentation of projects) to assess coverage of particular subjects. This information is used as a basis from which to build further offers for activities and workshops.
Each year, we aim to carry out an in-depth review of an aspect of either literacy or numeracy. We also review our relationships with the children and their families, and our connections with the wider community.
An important aspect of the review process is to look outwards and gather ideas from outside –to discover and review research, exchange information with other educators and experts, look at academic programmes/assessment tools and practices used in other schools, etc. Your ideas and discoveries are most welcome!
Once the review has been conducted, it may highlight strengths within the school and also identify areas for development. These areas are defined and a plan of action is implemented.
We are committed to effecting improvements in our practice through continuous pedagogical team training. Please share with the whole team your ideas and suggestions for training courses and activities. If you have specialised experience or knowledge that you think would be useful at the school, we would be happy to organise a training session.
