Low Adult to Children Ratios

Establishing close relationships with adults is related to children's emotional security, sense of self, and evolving understanding of the world around them. We apply concepts from the literature on attachment in considering the facilitator's role in separations and reunions during the day, encouraging the child's exploration, providing comfort, meeting physical needs, modelling positive relationships, and providing support during stressful times.

As facilitator, you will need to be flexible and engage children in an iterative process in constant revision and adaptation to them. The very small class sizes at Kaleide allow for a relaxed, amiable atmosphere and for close personal relationships between each facilitator and child. Our child-adult ratios in the Early Years are 7-9 to 1 (we shall always strive to remain on the lower figure if no exceptional circumstances occur) and 10-15 to 1 in Primary.
